Eindhoven Harmonie Turkish Music Choirwas founded in 2020 by Sükrü Deksizer and aims to better promote classical Turkish music in the Netherlands. The choir has 40-45 members from various backgrounds and they sing and make music together. The conductor Ugur Akbaba, born in Turkey, also plays the Kanun, a stringed instrument dating from the 19th century BC. He started his musical education at the age of 8 and has performed in Turkey and abroad for many years. This evening he and the choir will pay tribute to the iconic Turkish artist Müzeyyen Senar.
Müzeyyen Senar was known for her powerful voice and gave concerts for Mustafa Kemal Atatürk; she trained many artists and left a lasting impact on Turkish music.
